West Wales Airport operates as a civil aerodrome and unmanned aircraft systems test range. We recognise the importance of providing clear information to local residents and stakeholders about our activities, how we manage safety and noise, and how to contact us with any questions or concerns.
What the airport does
The airport supports a range of flying activities, including:
• general aviation movements
• manned and unmanned aircraft test and evaluation
• training flights for accredited operators and crews
All operations are subject to UK aviation regulations and are managed in accordance with our safety management system.
How segregated airspace works
A portion of the airspace above and around the airport is designated for specific test and evaluation activities. This segregated airspace is activated only when required, and its use is coordinated with the relevant aviation authorities to ensure the safety of all airspace users. When the segregated airspace is active, appropriate notices are issued through standard aeronautical information channels.
Environmental and noise guidance
We monitor activity at the airport with the aim of minimising unnecessary noise and environmental impact, while continuing to support essential test and evaluation work. Operating hours, flight patterns and procedures are designed to balance operational requirements with consideration for local communities.
Notification of unusual activity
From time to time there may be periods of increased activity, including exercises or visiting aircraft. Where possible, we will provide advance notice of significant events or unusual activity to our local community.
